(Fresno) “How many 5th District news organizations employ journalists who will ask the most basic and simple political questions?  Are 5th District journalists so immune, so completely numb to the English language that they ignore words that threaten the nation’s stability?

“Will any 5th District journalist ask local Congressman why he continues to support Marjorie Taylor Greene’s committee assignments on Homeland Security, Government Oversight, and Special Committee on Covid?   After such incendiary comments about national divorce or civil war, does Rep. McClintock believe she should be on such important committees?

“The national media continually tells the American public that democracy is threatened because local journalism has died and citizens aren’t being properly educated.  If that is the case, then the journalists in the 5th District (and their employers) are, in all politeness, embarrassing themselves.  Collectively, the 5th District media makes a mockery of these arguments.

“The 5th District is blessed with three mid-size newspapers, NPR stations, national affiliates, and at least one local newspaper in each of the eight counties.  Yet, there isn’t a single political journalist covering the most important conversation taking place.

“I am not a journalist nor am I a publisher.  I don’t know why people go into those professions.  I have to wonder, though, do 5th District journalists enter the profession so they can ignore important, timely, and relevant stories?  If the answer is no, then why aren’t 5th District journalists providing a local conversation for the most important, timely, and relevant national conversation in the country?

“Who is following up on my demand (as a declared candidate) that Representative McClintock explain his support to 5th District voters for keeping Marjorie Taylor Greene on these committees?  Which 5th District media is asking for answers to the questions I have repeatedly raised as a declared candidate?

“For American citizens in the 5th District, the local media has collectively endorsed a complete blackout on the single most important political conversation taking place in America today.  The local 5th District media, collectively, is indifferent to the national conversation and acts as though California’s 5th District is immune to federal trends.

“Democracy doesn’t die in darkness.  Democracy dies because 5th District journalists have a complete and utter unwillingness to confront what is right in front of their collective noses.”
