My name is Jason Kassel, and I am running for Congress in California’s 5th District because today’s professional Republican Party is delusional, bizarre, and very, very violent. My opponent, Representative Tom “Majorie Taylor Greene” McClintock, belongs to a professional Republican Party that openly and actively supports a violent anti-government paramilitary organization called the Oath Keepers. His support for Republicans such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, who both openly acknowledge support for the Oath Keepers, he is 100% complicit in their violent anti-government actions.
Any words of denial mean nothing because his actions tell the tale. “A man is judged by the company he keeps.” By caucusing with people who openly support and encourage a radically violent anti-government paramilitary organization, Tom “Marjorie Taylor Greene” McClintock provides them power and political influence. In 2011, twelve years ago, released a report titled, “Domestic Terrorism Focus on Militia Extremism.” Here’s how militias were described (emphasis mine):
They believe that the Constitution grants citizens the power to take back the federal government by force or violence if they feel it’s necessary…Militia extremists often subscribe to various conspiracy theories regarding the government..
In 0ctober of 2020, before the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021 violence, the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) released a report titled Standing By: Right-Wing Militia Groups and the United States Election. This report details how, prior to the 2020 election, the professional Republican Party’s embrace of this violent anti-government paramilitary organization that posed a serious threat to the safety and security of American voters. In the months leading up to the 2020 election, it was clear that the Oath Keepers were becoming more brazenly violent and were actively cheered on by the entire professional Republican Party. Their activities ranged from protest intervention to organized kidnapping plots targeting elected Democratic officials.
This is not normal. Today’s professional Republican Party overflows with delusion, bizarre beliefs, and extreme violence. In the United States, a political party has joined forces with a violent anti-government paramilitary organization. Together, the political party and the violent paramilitary organization both terrorize citizens if their political demands are not met. How is the violence at drag shows, which professional Republicans cheer, different from the police in Qatar not allowing people to wear rainbow shirts? How is the “don’t say gay” law different from Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality law?
Rep. Tom “Majorie Taylor Greene” McClintock caucuses with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and other Republicans who openly support the violent anti government paramilitary organization the Oath Keepers. He is 100% complicit in all of their violence and growing political power.
When it came time to choose between American pluralism and a violent anti government paramilitary force, Rep. Tom “Marjorie Taylor Greene” McClintock sided with the violent anti-government paramilitary organization. His words mean nothing. His actions reveal a professional Republican willing to cozy up to members of a violent paramilitary organization in exchange for political power. This is not normal politics. The professional Republican Party is delusional, bizarre, and very, very violent.
